We bought some of the replacement breeding sheep last week, they are Mule Shearings (young sheep that have been sheared this year for the first time). They will be put to the Suffolk ram in a around 10 days time, so hopefully they will all have lambs February/March next year.
Yesterday I helped run the YFC (Young Farmers Club) cake stall and games marquee at Bentham Show, we raised £200 for the club funds. Selling lots of cakes!
James went on the YFC Tractor run today with 42 tractors taking part, travelling in convoy over to Dent and Barbon and the returning back for a BBQ in the afternoon, at least it stayed dry as many of the tractors didn't have cabs and were vintage!
Today I entered the Ingleton Horticultural Show today with three items of baking, I got a 2nd Prize in the childrens class for an item of baking with a Victoria Sandwich, 1st in the adults class for a round of shorbread and a 1st prize and Best Exhibit in the Domestic Section with another Victoria Sandwich, I received a trophy and £10 prize money for this! I was extremely pleased with my cake and could not believe that it had won best exibit overall in the Baking section!
